NYISO increases 2020-21 ICAP monthly reference point prices

The New York Independent System Operator’s updated capacitymarket demand curves increase the values for the 2020-21 deliveryperiod from the prior period to account for higher natural gas pricesthat were not fully offset by higher power prices, among other factors.NYISO conducts an installed capacity demand curve reset everyfour years and provides updates on curve parameters during thesecond, third and fourth years of the reset period.“As part of the 2016 ICAP Demand Curve reset process a newannual update procedure was developed to update the ICAP DemandCurves formulaically for each of the remaining three years of the resetperiod,” the NYISO said in a presentation given Tuesday to its InstalledCapacity Working Group.
