MISO proposal eyes creation, market procurement of new short-term reserve product

The use of out-of-market commitments to meet certain short-termreliability needs in the Midcontinent Independent System Operatorregion could be eliminated with the creation of a 30-minute reserveproduct, the grid operator said in a recent filing proposing the marketmechanism.If the proposed tariff changes are approved, MISO said the regioncould see lower production costs and decrease its make-wholepayments.
