Entergy eyes larger role for renewables in generation portfolio

Renewable power will become a bigger part of Entergy's generationstack as the company looks to replace aging units, executives saidWednesday.During the company's third-quarter 2019 earnings call, CEO LeoDenault said the company is taking advantage of economies of scalefor its plans to add up to 8,000 MW of new generation between 2022and 2030, with about half the capacity coming from renewable power.But when asked if that strategy entails pursuing more ambitiousprojects, like American Electric Power's original plans for Invenergy'sterminated 2,000-MW Wind Catcher Wind Farm, Denault said any newcapacity has to make sense for the business and Entergy's customers.
