The Lazard investment firm's latest Levelized Cost of Energy andLevelized Cost of Storage reports show that in some scenariosalternative energy costs are at or below the marginal cost ofconventional generation, which drew mixed reactions from industryobservers.Released on Thursday, Lazard's 12th annual in-depth study of theunsubsidized cost of various types of generation show that themarginal costs of wind power ranges from $29 to $56/MWh and thinfilmand that of utility-scale photovoltaic solar power ranges from $36to $44/MWh.
