Clarification by NRC of aspects of a risk analysis tool developed bystaff to determine the needed level of review for spent fuel caskcertificates of compliance applications and amendments is “of theupmost importance” to industry, an industry official said Feb. 25.Developed by Idaho National Laboratory and documented in aNovember 2020 report, the risk analysis tool will help staff assess thescope, level of effort and complexity of a review by providing apreliminary risk rating of a proposed licensing action.
