Accenture awarded IT contract at MMS; firm's prior work there was questioned

The Minerals Management Service early this month awarded an information-technology contract worth $90 million to $100 million to the computer services and consulting firm Accenture, whose previous IT work for MMS was questioned in a September report by the Interior Department's inspector general. Accenture is also a defendant in a lawsuit by the Justice Department which alleges that the firm took kickbacks from computer hardware and software vendors and others in exchange for federal procurement opportunities.
