Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen last week called for thenestablishment of a solar energy research institute in his state,nwith the Energy Department’s Oak Ridge National Laboratorynplaying a central role in the enterprise.nIn his 2009 State of the State speech Tuesday, Bredesen saidnthe Obama administration’s strong commitment to solar andnother forms of “green” energy and the existence of related businessnand technical skills in Tennessee make forming such anninstitute particularly timely.
