The year 2022 will be a fundamental year for laying the groundwork for a US hydrogen economy as two major pieces of legislation are poised to jumpstart clean production of the energy carrier. The relevant laws are the Biden administration’s infrastructure bill, signed into law Nov. 15, and the Build Back Better Act, a spending package that appeared all but doomed after Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia said Dec. 19 he would not support it.
