Renewables, batteries to dominate US electric additions in 2022, 2023: EIA

Wind, solar, and battery storage resources are poised to account for three-quarters of utility-scale capacity additions in the US over the next two years, according to the Energy Information Administration. Solar alone will make up 38 GW, nearly half of the anticipated 78.3 GW of new large-scale generating capacity to be energized across the nation's power grids in 2022 and 2023, EIA said in its latest Electricity Monthly Update, released Dec. 23.
