UK-based electrolyzer manufacturer ITM Power has warned that demand could outstrip supply as green hydrogen demand rapidly grows, and said its new 1 GW per year factory could reach capacity earlier than expected. The company’s backlog of contracted work and contracts in the final stages of negotiation for the year to April 30 was up 44% on the year to GBP171 million ($236 million), constituting 310 MW of electrolyzer capacity, it said in a results statement Sept. 13. The growing demand could see the company’s new 1 GW/year electrolyzer production facility reach capacity sooner than expected.
