US natural gas stocks likely increased by a slightly below-average volume last week, but suppressed demand in the South Central region stemming from a series of storms looks to expand an already saturated storage situation in the area as Henry Hub cash prices plunge to multidecade lows. The US Energy Information Administration is expected to report a 77 Bcf injection for the week ended Sept. 18, according to a survey of analysts by S&P Global Platts. Responses to the survey ranged from an injection of 65 Bcf to 85 Bcf. After last week’s surprisingly large injection of 89 Bcf, this build will likely decline week over week, coming in around the five-year average.
