California's investor-owned utilities may soon be required to speed updeployment of microgrids and other resiliency projects, such asportable generator installations at substations, to cope with wildfirecausedpower outages or pre-emptive power shutoffs aimed atkeeping electrical equipment from starting fires in the first place.The California Public Utilities Commission said it will consider onJune 11 ordering major electric utilities to put those projects in place bySept. 1, in time for the expected peak wildfire season.
