Southeast Power Tracker: Mild weather, cheap gas weaken December prices

Milder weather and cheaper natural gas pushed wholesale on-peakpower indexes lower in December, both on the month and year, andon-peak power forwards showed similar weakness in the face of fallinggas futures and mild weather forecasts.Among the six Southeast hubs included in S&P Global Platts’monthly Power Trackers, the Florida day-ahead on-peak bilateral indexhad the highest monthly average in December, at $26.14/MWh, but thiswas down about 18% from November’s $31.76MWh and down about23% from December 2018’s $33.83/MWh.
