NYMEX October gas jumps as warm weather returns

The NYMEX October natural gas futures contract settled at $2.585/MMBtu Monday, up 8.9 cents, as warm weather makes a late summer return. The contract traded Monday between $2.496/MMBtu and $2.604/MMBtu. “I’d like to say it’s fundamentally driven, but I’m puzzled by the strength,” said Gene McGillian, senior analyst at Tradition Energy. “While we’ve seen late summer demand, especially down South, the market has sort of turned away from the fundamentals.”
