In the Northwest, day-ahead prices surged as above-average temperatures were forecast. Mid-Columbia on-peak day-ahead package jumped about $8.50 to price in the low $30s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange for Wednesday delivery. The Mid-C off-peak package similarly climbed $8.75 to price near $26.50/MWh while the COB off-peak package jumped $7.25 to price near $26.25/MWh. In near-term packages, the balance-of-the-month on-peak package rose about $2.75 to $35.75/MWh for October 24-31 delivery. High temperatures in Portland and Seattle Wednesday were forecast slightly above seasonal norms at 63 degrees and 59 degrees, respectively.
