The US has fallen significantly behind in establishing a battery supply chain, a misstep that could jeopardize its role in a global energy storage revolution, an analyst told lawmakers Tuesday. Demand for lithium ion batteries used for energy storage, electric vehicles and mobile technology is on the rise and has sparked construction of a wave of battery megafactories around the world. A total of 70 megafactories are planned across four continents.
