New York Governor Andrew Cuomo set a 100% carbon-free power by2040 goal and increased the state’s offshore wind target to 9 GW by2035, up from 2.4 GW by 2030, which drew mixed reactions frommarket watchers Wednesday.Cuomo's announcement in the State of the State Address onTuesday set the “most aggressive clean energy targets in the nationunder New York's Green New Deal – a nation-leading clean energy andjobs agenda,” Alicia Barton, president & CEO of the New York StateEnergy Research & Development Authority, said in a statement.The mandate includes a significant increase of New York’s CleanEnergy Standard under which the proportion of power derived fromrenewable energy resources will increase from 50% to 70% by 2030,before increasing to 100% by 2040.
