OECD solar manufacturers opt for indium thin film cells

The manufacture and development of thin-film solarnphotovoltaic cells using indium is expanding across thenOECD. Copper-indium-gallium-selenium (CIGS) solar cellsnconsist of thin CIGS film rolled over substrates. MostnCIGS cells that have been commercialized in Japan usenglass substrates, but newly developed cells allownceramics, metal foil, and polymer to be used as well.nNon-glass substrates allow the cell surfaces to bend orncurve, improving flexibility in the cell designs andndeployment, according to Japan’s Advanced IndustrialnScience & Technology laboratory.
