Crude oil futures saw a sustained rise in February ofnabout $12/barrel, with the front-month contract for WestnTexas Intermediate settling at a new record ofn$100.74/barrel on February 20. New highs were testednagain February 27, with the Nymex contract surging ton$102.08/barrel in Asian trade as the dollar lost value.nRecords were broken across the board with $2.8345/galnrecorded for Nymex heating oil; front-month gasoil on ICEnjumped earlier in February to $897.50/mt, whilenSingapore jet kerosene surged $1.41/barrel February 22nto $117.14/barrel. Having started the month aroundn$10/barrel, the hypothetical refining margin, the Nymexn3-2-1 crack spread, moved up about $5 to $15/barrel.
