Natural gas-fueled vehicles are poised for a period of global growth and could reach 17 million vehicles by 2015 from the 9.7 million on the road in 2008, according to US-based consultants Pike Research. "Governments, fleet managers, and consumers are increasingly recognizing the environmental benefits of lower emissions from natural gas vehicles," analyst Dave Hurst said. "However, lack of refueling station infrastructure has inhibited NGV demand."
