A return to economic expansion is the primary goal of government, but renewed growth implies greater use of natural resources and thus more greenhouse gas emissions. The financial crisis has brought into question the sustainability of modern financial capitalism, while climate change challenges it from an environmental perspective. Can the 'green economy' square the circle?
