A lack of interest on the part of European utilities, continuing high stockpiles in the ARA region and a weak API2 paper market contrived to drag down European-delivered CIF ARA thermal coal prices in September below the $70/mt level. Average CIF ARA spot prices for September softened $3.31/mt to $68.19/mt.
