EU carbon prices give up gains

The price of EU Allowances under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme eased in June, falling from a high of €15.70 ($21.73) per metric ton of CO_2 equivalent in May. EUA prices for delivery in December 2009 on the over-the-counter market have climbed in recent months following an all-time low for the 2008-2012 Phase II period of €8.33/mt on February 12. But prices succumbed to selling pressure in June, falling to a near-term low of €12.45/mt on June 15.
