London—EU carbon dioxide allowance prices ended lower overall in the week to Aug. 21, after prices gave up gains made earlier in the week. EU Allowance futures contracts for December 2020 delivery on the ICE Futures Europe exchange traded in a range of Eur25.29/mt ($29.34/mt) to Eur25.95/mt Aug. 21. That compares with Eur25.48/mt at the close a week ago, Aug. 14. Prices had taken ongoing support from August’s reduced supply of EUAs from government auctions and prices made a push to the upside earlier in the week to as high as Eur26.84/mt Aug. 19.
