Mozambique gas reserves estimate rises

US independent Anadarko Petroleum said November 28 that its Barquentine-3 appraisal well off Mozambique had encountered more than 662 net feet (202 meters) of natural gas pay, significantly expanding the estimated recoverable resource to at least 15 Tcf and possibly more than 30 Tcf. Earlier in the month, Italian oil and gas company Eni said it expected to have an LNG liquefaction terminal operating in Mozambique in 2016. Together with its coal projects, Mozambique appears to be well on the road to becoming a major new African energy power.
