UN carbon offsets sink to all-time low as traders bail out

The price of UN carbon offset credits sank to a fresh all-time low in October, dented by ongoing oversupply of both offset credits and the more widely-traded EU carbon allowances. Certified Emissions Reduction futures contracts for delivery in December on London's ICE Futures Europe Exchange fell to their lowest ever intra-day price of €6.69 per metric ton of CO_2 equivalent on October 20, down from €6.85/mt at the close the previous day, and from as high as €9.00/mt in early September.
