NSW introduces CSG moratorium

Australian state New South Wales has announced a 60-day moratorium on the granting of new coalseam gas and petroleum exploration licenses, as part of transitional arrangements ahead of the introduction of a new land-use policy. The NSW conservative coalition government, led by the Liberal Party, said before it was elected in March that it would introduce a strategic regional land-use policy that struck the right balance between the agricultural, mining and energy sectors, while ensuring the protection of high-value conservation lands.
