摘要

The Australian state of Queensland is one of the largest coal exporting regions in the world. Supply disruptions, such as extreme flooding, have a global impact on prices. The cost of the damage to local producers looks likely to be high, but Australia, and Queensland in particular, remain better placed than any of their competitors to take advantage of growth in coal demand over the next decade. Extensive floods in the Australian state of Queensland in January have had pricing reverberations around the world as coal mine and transport operations were disrupted. The army was called in to lead flood recovery efforts, including work to pump water from waterlogged coal mines and restore submerged transport links.
