Algeria faces gas supply crunch

Algeria's oil minister Yousef Yousfi said in June that the country can both increase gas exports and meet fast-rising domestic demand, despite providing figures which suggest the OPEC member is heading for a gas supply crunch. Speaking at the World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Yousfi said Algeria is currently producing 140 Bcm of natural gas. Of this, 50-55 Bcm is reinjected into oil fields to improve liquids recovery, 55-60 Bcm is exported and 30 Bcm is consumed domestically.
