Energy assets have become clear targets in Yemen’s internal conflict. On October 16, South Yemen separatists called on oil and gas producers, including international contractors, to suspend their southern region operations and halt oil and gas exports. The separatists have given oil companies until November 30 to respond. “If companies don’t respond positively on time, we will defend our rights and escalate protests to force the government and oil and gas companies to meet our demands, including separation from the North,” Southern Movement member Radfan al-Dubais said.
