German wind generation up 34% over January-May

Germany’s love affair with wind generation is entering a thirdrnconsecutive year of big capacity expansions. The countryrnconsumed 56.0 TWh of wind power in 2014, double what itrnconsumed a decade ago. In January-May this year, Germanrnwind output was up 34% year-on year. Wind turbinesrngenerated 32.5 TWh of electricity, up more than 8 TWh,rnaccording to grid operator data. On average, wind generatedrn7.5 GW each hour in the first five months of 2015,rnequivalent to the output of seven modern nuclear reactors.
