Iberdrola advances Castellon

A proposal by Iberdrola to install a 1.1 GW gas-fired, combined-cycle plant at Castellon in the eastern Valencia region has reached the public Input stage. The project, according to a March 12 notice in the official state gazette, is budgeted at €405 million and entails the conversion of the company's existing two-unit 1,085-MW oil-fired generator at the site, which began operating in the early 1970s. Interested parties have 30 days to examine filings related to the proposed development, including an environmental impact assessment, and submit comments.
