Enea advances offshore wind agreement with Iberdrola

Polish state-controlled utility Enea said late June 3 it had signed a letter of intent with Spain's Iberdrola to jointly develop up to 3.3 GW of offshore wind capacity in the Baltic Sea. The companies will now enter exclusive talks aimed at creating a joint venture project, with Enea taking a minority share, to develop the projects, the company said. This is the first time Enea has announced concrete plans to develop offshore wind and comes a day after it said it was reducing its capital participation in a Zloty 6.023 billion ($1.5 billion) joint venture with rival utility Energa to construct a large conventional fossil fired generation unit at Energa's Ostroleka plant.
