Biomass Tender Launched

France's Ministry of Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development has invited bids by July 15 for the construction by 2012 of new biomass-fired power generation plant with a combined installed capacity of 250 MW. According to the tender, issued January 6, tendered projects should have a minimum capacity of 3 MWe.rnThe tender requires 150 MW of the 250 MW be built in specific areas of the country such as the northeastern regions of Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne-Ardenne, Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardie, and the department of the Seine-et-Marne - considered by the government as priority regions in terms of the country's economic development - as well as the mountain regions of the Massif Central, Vosges, Alpes, Pyrenees, and in Brittany in light of their respective power supply problems.
