Vattenfall Poland has signed an agreement with fertilizer producer Zaklady Azotowy Pulawy (ZAP) to build a 1,400 MW conventional coal-fired power plant in the south east of the country, ZAP said December 23. ZAP based in Pulawy, south eastern Poland, produces 92,000 tonnes of melamine annually.rnZAP said Vattenfall Poland would take a 50% stake in the venture. It was possible that nearby hard coal producer, Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka, could join the scheme. Bogdanka produces 5.2 million tonnes of hard coal annually and supplies coal to ZAP and the Kozienice and Ostraleka power plants. Bogdanka plans to increase its annual production to 10 million tonnes by 2014.
