Edison deadline extended

EDF has extended the deadline for reaching agreement on the future of Italy's Edison to November 30, the French utility said November 4. Earlier, Milan-based utility A2A said it had agreed new terms with EDF for the restructuring of Edison, which would give EDF a majority stake in the Italian power and gas firm. The extension of the deadline would give time for "binding agreements", A2A said. A2A has been leading negotiations for Italian shareholders in Edison. On October 25 it had rejected an earlier EDF proposal, leading to new terms being offered.
