EDF applies for Hinkley

EDF Energy has applied for consent to construct and operate a new 3.26 GW nuclear power complex at Hinkley Point from the UK's Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC), the utility said October 31. The utility plans to build the plant adjacent to its existing 870-MW Hinkley Point B power station in Somerset. "EDF Energy has delivered a Development Consent Order to the Infrastructure Planning Commission to build and operate a new nuclear plant at Hinkley Point and to construct various associated developments in the surrounding area," the company said.
