Germany's four transmission system operators and 866 distribution network operators are to enjoy a slightly better return than first proposed on investments in the next regulatory period. Federal regulator Bundesnetzagentur has revised its decision on the calculator/ interest rate on equity, an input value for setting network earnings, in the light of feedback on its September proposals. It had intended to allow 8.2% for new network facilities before corporation tax for the second regulatory period from January 2014, compared with 9.29% for the first regulatory period. In the light of 130 statements from market players, on November 2 the BNA set the rate for new investments at 9.05% before corporation tax. The rate for investments in existing infrastructure is set at 7.14% versus the current 7.56%.
