Negotiators forming Belgium's coalition government said on October 31 that agreement had been reached on the principle of a phase-out based on 40-year reactor lifetimes. Belgium's three oldest plants, Doel-1, 2 and Tihange-1, have a combined capacity of 1.8 GW and would be shut in 2015 if the government was satisfied that replacement capacity could be built in time. It would take six months from the start of government to work on a plan to see if this was feasible.
