UK tidal energy company Marine Current Turbines is three years ahead of the competition as it prepares to move to commercial-scale deployment, MCT chief executive Andrew Tyler told Platts November 10.German engineering giant Siemens has just increased its stake in the Bristol-based company from 10% to 45%, a key vote of confidence in MCT's SeaGen machine ahead of a fund-raising drive to build projects at Kyle Rhea in Scotland (8 MW) and Anglesey Skerries in Wales (10 MW). "The timing could not have been better," Tyler said of Siemens' increased participation.
