The authorization procedure for a new 380-kV line from Chiaramonte Gulfi to Ciminna in Sicily is to begin in the next few weeks after Terna agreed a 'feasible area' for the project with six relevant provinces, the transmission system operator said September 7. The 180-km, €210 million overhead line crosses the territory of Ragusa, Catania, Enna, Caltanissetta, Agrigento and Palermo. A new power station in the province of Caltanissetta is included in the scope of the project, Terna said. "Building the Chiaramonte Gulfi-Ciminna power line will have a significant impact in economic terms and for employment," Terna said. "The project will allow opening of 12 building yards involving 20 companies and 200 workers employed on average."
