Polish day-ahead prices were on the low side and trending downwards late July as wind output picked up, traders said. Day-ahead baseload prices July 27 were Zloty 154.37/MWh (€36.19/MWh), down 7.5% from July 20. Wind generation was higher than previous weeks with maximum output of around 1.5 GWh on all days apart from July 25, when generation rose to a maximum 1.9 GWh. The August contract fell 4% to Zloty 166.56/MWh July 27 from Zloty 173.14/MWh July 20 despite restricted import capacity from Lithuania over the next two weeks, and the news that the 858 MW unit 14 at PGE’s Belchatow plant would be out for eight days’ maintenance from July 31, one trader said. Cal- 18 base was flattish during the week, moving from Zloty 164.22/MWh July 20 to Zloty 164.10/MWh July 27. Poland imported almost all available capacity via the 600 MW SwePol link and from Germany during peakload hours. Imports via the 488 MW LitPol Link were suspended due to maintenance. The average price of green certificates saw rare growth in week 30, perhaps due to the adoption this week of an amendment to the RES law, designed to bind the substitution fee to the market price of green certificates. GCs increased 22% to Zloty 39.04/MWh July 27 from Zloty 32.05/MWh July 20. At the start of last year prices averaged Zloty 114.77/MWh.
