Alpha wins OWEZ blade repair contract

Alpha Offshore Service has been awarded a contract byrnNoordzeeWind (Nuon and Shell) for blade repairs on thern12-year old Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) offshore wind farm,rnthe Danish contractor said July 9.rnThe first large windfarm built in the Dutch sector of thernNorth Sea, OWEZ consists of 36 3-MW Vestas V90 turbinesrnand sits six miles off the coast from the village of Egmondrnaan Zee. Alpha is to repair around 80 of wind farm’s 108rn44-meter blades, it said. Depending on the extent of wear,rnthe scope of work could include tip replacement, laminaternrepairs, lightning damage and leading edge protectionrnsystems upgrades. The work began in May and willrncontinue over the summer months.
