Russia approves draft energy plan

The Russian government approved mid-August a draft energy strategy, which aims to increase the country's oil and natural gas output to 530 million to 535 million mt/year and 885 billion cu m to 940 Bcm/year, respectively, by 2030. Last year, Russia produced 488.1 million mt of crude and 663 Bcm of gas. Under the strategy, crude exports are expected at 306-329 million mt per year by 2030, up from 237.3 million in 2008, the spokeswoman said. Gas exports are slated to grow to 349 to 368 Bcm per year, up from 179 Bcm.
