Strong Q4 boosts ZE PAK

Polish lignite-fired power producer, Zespol Elektrowni Patnow-Adamow-Konin (ZE PAK), reported March 20 an 18% year-on-year rose in net profit in 2012 to Zloty 375 million ($116.6 million) after a strong fourth quarter. Net profit in the fourth quarter more than doubled to Zloty 59 million ($18.3 million), up from Zloty 27 million a year earlier. Operating profit in the fourth quarter almost tripled to Zloty 98 million while full year operating profit fell 3.6% to Zloty 451 million. Sales revenues rose 14% in the quarter to Zloty 735 million and were up 1.3% in 2012 to Zloty 2.7 billion. ZE PAK, based in Konin, central Poland, has installed capacity of 2,462 MWe, giving it almost a 7% share of the country's generation market.
