MeyerBurger secures Eur185 million to expand German solar factory to 1.4 GW

MeyerBurger has secured a Eur185 million ($221 million) loan to expandits solar factories in Germany to 1.4 GW by the end of 2022, theSwitzerland-based manufacturer said June 16.Europe’s biggest solar PV module factory at Freiberg in Saxonyre-opened May 26 with an initial 400 MW/year production capacity.A similar plant for solar cells started at Thalheim in Saxony-Anhalt.By 2026, the company plans to increase both cell and moduleproduction capacity to 5 GW each, which would require furthermanufacturing sites.
