Nordic hydro stocks dip late August as spot price rebound strengthens

Nordic hydro reservoir stocks dipped slightly in week 35 to Aug. 30 as cooler temperatures increased electricity consumption and system spot prices rose strongly, Nord Pool data showed Sept. 2. Stocks fell 0.9 percentage points to 88.3% (111.4 TWh) of nominal capacity, still historically high compared with a long-term norm for the week of 81.7%. In detail, Norwegian hydro reservoir stocks were at 79.4 TWh, Swedish at 28.2 TWh and Finnish at 3.8 TWh. Norwegian daily net exports peaked at 95 TWh Aug. 29 after a strong run saw 80 GWh-plus levels achieved on most days through August.
