MidAm restructures PacifiCorp with big focus on Utah, upon closing of sale

A vastly restructured PacifiCorp with a heavy focus on Utah emerged last week when MidAmerican Energy Holdings closed its acquisition of the Oregon-headquartered utility from the UK's ScottishPower. MEH paid $5.1 billion in cash and assumed all of PacifiCorp's debt, for a total value of $9.2 billion. PacifiCorp's businesses in six Western states with 1.6 million customers have been split into three subsidiaries. Some regulators say it may now be easier to regulate the company because they will more clearly see how and where costs are allocated.
