摘要

The remote northwest of British Columbia lacks a transmission grid, so a BC Hydro affiliate is teaming up with two mining companies to build a C$400 million (US$401.2 million), 200-mile line to energize the region, which is now served by expensive, inefficient diesel-fueled plants.rnBC Hydro ratepayers will pick up C$242 million in costs for the 287-kV Northwest Transmission line, which would carry 260 MW. The remaining C$158 million will be paid by Vancouver-based NovaGold Resources and Teck Cominco, which formed a partnership to build the proposed Galore Creek copper and gold project.
