California regulators approve utilities’deployment road map for smart grid

The California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday napproved a road map meant to help investor-owned utilities ndevelop smart grid deployment plans as required by the state’s n2009 smart grid law, which is known as S.B. 17.nBy July 2011, IOUs need, among other things, to submit nvision statements, addressing how smart grid plans will help nconsumers capture benefits of smart grid technologies, while nprotecting consumers’ privacy. The plans also must tackle cyber-nsecurity and grid stability questions.
